Please ensure you're contacting other networks, plus media attention - UPDATE
by Dani Moure - Monday, September 9th 2002

Category: Future Farscape

While contacting Sci Fi is great and we must keep it up, I want to remind people that contacting other networks is also a high priority. As a source from the show puts it:

"Yes, [the cause of the cancellation] was a change of regimes at the network [Sci Fi], the new guys don't get the show, and don't like it...

...[however] UPN is looking for a companion to Enterprise, TNT has expressed some initial interest in the show, and a flood of fan passion aimed at them might help them see the merits of bringing over an award-winning series with a built-in audience. And Showtime is obviously very good about putting on sf television...

Please pass it on to fans that they should express their passion (write/fax/etc) about the series to Sci-Fi Channel, but also to UPN, TNT, and Showtime."

We have the contact information for all those networks on our Help Save Farscape page. Please remember that the best idea is faxes and letters. Do not flood their phone lines, as we do not want to annoy and frustrate them!

Also remember that Sci Fi do own the exclusive rights to air seasons 1 to 4 of the show (eps 1 through 88), both first run and a number of reruns. Persuading them to sell these rights is a definite uphill task considering how the network hangs on to these things, but it is possible, so let them know that if they have no intention of continuing the show, you'd like to see them sell the rights so another network could.

Additionally, the cancellation news, and the campaign going to keep the show alive, has already attracted some media attention now the weekend is over.

USA Today put out this story this morning regarding the news.

BBCi posted this story about the cancellation and how to help.

Cinescape picked up the story early on, in this message.

Longtime supporters of the show, TV Guide posted this news about the cancellation, and fan Matt Roush posted his own views on the cancellation.

CNN have also picked up on the cancellation news. See this story.
