Events lineup for Burbank convention
by Dani Moure - Thursday, October 30th 2003

Category: Conventions

As the Official 2003 Farscape Convention draws ever closer, Creation are finalising the events schedule.

Of course, there will be the twelve guests attending, all of whom will be on stage - Ben Browder (John Crichton), Raelee Hill (Sikozu), Claudia Black (Aeryn), Gigi Edgley (Chiana), Lani Tupu (Crais/Voice of Pilot), Virginia Hey (Zhaan), Francesca Buller (War Minister Ahkna, and others), Jonathan Hardy (Voice of Rygel), David Franklin (Braca), Paul Goddard (Stark), Bianca Chiminello (Jenavian, "Look at the Princess") and Ricky Manning (Executive Producer/Writer).

Other events announced include:

SPECIAL EVENT FOR SATURDAY: We are happy to announce a very special attraction taking place as part of our program of events. A screening of the fan favorite JOHN QUIXOTE with live commentary by our guests BEN BROWDER (writer of the episode), CLAUDIA BLACK and RICHARD MANNING.

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION AUDITION: Here's the chance for would be "stars" to show their stuff as Richard Manning offers the opportunity for audience members to play a Farscape scene live on-stage! Prizes to all participants: be in our audience for the fun!

SAVING FARSCAPE: Join BritAngie from Benbrowder.co.uk, Dani from Farscapeworld.com, Red from Savefarscape.com and Voy from the Chicago Scapers as they talk about the fan campaign to save the series. They'll discuss where the campaign started, the highs and the lows, and what the future might bring. Set for Friday afternoon.

FARSCAPE COSTUME AND MAKE-UP CONTEST: Come dressed to get noticed and participate in this competition set for Sunday afternoon. Prizes to all who are part of the contest, special prizes for the best!

UNCHARTED TALES: An Introduction to Farscape Fanfiction (45 minutes). Aeryncrichton, Cofax, and USCB Dad will talk about why they write, what they write, and what they recommend. Topics will include the history and legal status of fanfiction, the best places to find fanfiction, and some suggestions on where to start reading.

Miss the show? Desperate for more adventures about Crichton, D'Argo, Aeryn, Chiana, and the rest of Moya's crew? Long for an explanation of Sikozu's background, wish to find out more about Peacekeepers and Luxans? Want mysteries, adventures, romances, alternate universes?

Fanfiction writers are out there telling all those stories, and more. Come join us in the main auditorium on Sunday to learn about the world of unpaid, unauthorized fiction, where everything is possible and the writing can be as good as any novel on the shelf at Barnes and Noble.

"PILOT'S DEN" (Sunset Room): Outside of the main convention room, Creation has also set aside space for a fan fic reading room, and an area for those interested in joining other fans in playing the Farscape role playing game. The Sunset room is just off the main room, and will be furnished with tables and comfortable chairs.

All of the site's staff will be in attendance - myself, Mary, Cyn, Angie and Linda - so please say "hi" if you spot us! If you don't know who we are, have a peek at the Saving Farscape panel, and you'll know straight away who me and Angie are (the blabbering Brits!).
