Contender have officially announced the release of the awesome mini-series Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars
on DVD in the UK. Following up from our intial details
in October, we can finally confirm that the DVD will be released Monday, February 14 2005
with an MSRP of 24.99
The two-disc set will contain the complete mini-series presented in anamorphic widescreen with Dolby 5.1 audio.
But as we said some time ago, Lee Binding and the folks at Contender have worked hard to make this the best Farscape release ever. So, not only will the UK release contain all the extras on the US release
, it will also contain a plethora of additional extras. The full list includes:
The Battle Behind The Wars - The Making Of The Peacekeeper Wars featurette (30 min - present on the US release)
Main Character Info-Pods, including interviews with Ben Browder, Claudia Black, Anthony Simcoe and Gigi Edgley (UK exclusive, running 25 minutes with the crew interviews)
Interviews with behind-the-scenes personnel Brian Henson, David Kemper and Andrew Prowse (plus star interviews)
Deleted scenes (UK exclusive, running 15 mins)
Gallery of conceptual artwork and character and prop photography
DVD ROM exclusive content (including exclusive mini-series wallpapers).
As you can see, the list does trounce the US release in terms of extras. I managed to catch the "Making Of" featurette at Burbank and it was really good, and I've been told that the interviews are excellent, and the deleted scenes so hot off the press that you're not meant to have them, but they're there anyway.
Don't forget, you can pre-order Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars DVD from Amazon UK now!
As an additional note, despite rumours in magazines regarding a UK equivalent release of ADV's Starburst Editions of the show currently being released, Lee Binding has told us that this is not the case; everything they have extras-wise has been put into the UK season box sets, so they will not be releasing a third edition.
A huge round of thanks to Lee Binding at Contender for the hard work and the info, and thanks to some special people at Hallmark and Henson, all for making this release the best possible.
