With less than a week until the mini-series, Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars
airs, and provides us with the true continuation of the Farscape story, I thought now was a good time to unleash my first ever piece of semi-fiction. I say semi because it's not your usual style of story.
To Have and to Hold
is presented in script format; the story behind which dates back to June 2003. Back then, a good friend of mine set me a little challenge: to write a single, hour-long Farscape script to pick up from "Bad Timing", the fourth season finale, and provide an end to the story. The only catch being that you only get one hour-long episode. So I set about creating a story, and did the first draft in June and July 2003.
It was left unused for a long time, but with the mini-series coming up, I decided I'd go back and make use of the feedback I had and my growing ideas, and I redrafted the script. That happened early September 2004 (yes, it took me over a year to revisit it), but I decided it was worth doing, and after getting a bit of feedback I think the timing is right to unleash it on the world.
Bear in mind that the script format is quite different to your usual story when reading it, as it's mostly dialogue with brief scene descriptions, and there's no asides and character thoughts. As said, the story picks up directly from "Bad Timing", and finishes it in what I think is an interesting way given there was only an hour to do it. There aren't any spoilers beyond "Bad Timing", obviously, and I guess I'd rate the story "PG-13" for some violence.
So there you go, you can read the story on the To Have and to Hold
page, as it's not added to the Fan Fiction
listing yet (it will be once I figure out how I want it presented).
If you read the story, please do send me some feedback, good or bad. It would be really great to get some feedback (but try not to be too harsh, it's my first ever published piece of fan fiction!). You can either e-mail me
or post in the To Have and to Hold feedback thread
