I found a cut scene!

Postby pushka on Sat Feb 03, 2007 4:44 pm

I watched Clockwork Nebari in season 2 the other day for the first time on DVD. And I noticed a scene that I definately don't remember seeing when it was shown on TV.

When John goes through the temporary mind clensing process, on TV, it ends around the point when D'argo finishes crying. But on the DVD, there's this cool bit when John has his eyes pulled out of his sockets, a device attached to his optic nerve (or the bloody stringy bit behind his eyeball, what ever it's called) and then his eyeballs stuck back in his sockets.

This is a really cool scene, and I'm sure it was never shown on TV. Correct me if I'm wrong, on English TV anyway.

It was definitely shown on Canadian TV.

No question. It was definitely there.

Yep, I remember that scene quite vividly and I've never watched the DVD's, so it was definitly shown on Israeli TV anyway...

Farscape was shown on UK TV at around 7 I think (It was a while ago, so can't remember that well). Maybe it was because it was shown before the 9 o'clock line, so it was too gory or something.

But then again, UK TV cuts the Simpsons bit when Homer get's hit on the head with a stretcher!

But UK TV does seem to suck a little when it comes to what it shows and doesn't show. But it was certainly a fun scene to watch anyhow! Made me feel a little squeemish, but I love that feeling! It's like someone's tickling your guts.

I remembered it too in Spain. But I found disgusting the fact that they took out his eyeballs. It must hurt a lot!!.

Although I live in the US, I have been repeatedly told how the UK cut scenes from the show -sometimes the cut would be so abrupt they (UK scapers) came to the scifi bboard to ask what they had missed. Since the final four eps were full of explosions and fights, much of the gory moments were removed.

Liars Guns and Money - when China fights the zenitian pirate and he falls down dead, it cut away before showing exactly where the smoking hole was

In season 3 when Aeryn's old friend dies, it doesnt show how her body was so gruesomely burnt, which explains why even battle hardened Aeryn fled the sight of the burnt friend - the UK version was shipped to me months before it was aired in the US, and that version left me wondering "Why the heck isnt she grabbing the dead friends gun??" If I'd seen what she saw, I wouldnt have stayed to grab a gun either!!

And you miss the chainsaw guy bumping upanddown on the ground bcs he landed on his own saw .. not a pretty sight. Lots and lots and lots of little cuts like that in the UK.

Oooh! I look forward to seeing more of the scenes they cut. Yeah, I noticed the bit with the pulse blast when Chiana killed the Pirate too, but that didn't stand out so much as the eyeball bit.

I love violence and gore! :P - Curse the UK for cutting all those scenes. Because of them, UK scapers would never fully understand how tempory mind clensing works...

The DVD has a longer cut scene of John and Aeryn *the morning after* in Human Reaction (second season).Wasn't shown in the US.

Aeryn is dressed in a man's shirt--and not much else --as John wakes up in the apartment or whatever after they escape the Australian base. She is looking at a map looking for an escape route.

Later she is dressed in a dress--I've always wondered whose clothes those were supposed to be??????????

Ah that bit. It was cut in the US? Now that I know they showed here in the UK.

I always liked the bit when John told Aeryn that she couldn't go around dressed like that! I never understood, because that dress she was wearing was soooooo much worse! It made me laugh though.

I remember that part when it aired in the US because my mother was watching it with me and after that scene she asked me why I watched this show and I told her because Farscape is everything other shows aren't and more.

I own the Starburst editions and it is in there too.

Season 1 they filmed extra scenes for the UK, including the morning after scene, because UK allotted a minute or two more for the show. However, when the US audience saw the DVDS and saw the extra minutes they'd missed (not to mention in particular how much confusion was caused by eliminating the morning after scene) the outcry over 'cut minutes' was so huge that they decided to stop doing that and just create one version of each ep.

The UK, however, continued to cut anything they deemed too gory from the show all four years.

I also believed the UK didn't show Scratch n Sniff. I watched Season 3 very religiously, and I cetainly don't remember seeing that episode once I'd watched it on the box set. It may have just been that I missed, or forgot seeing that episode, seeing as it wasn't particularly relavent to the story. But I'm sure I wouldn't have forgotten seeing it, as I found it rather twisted in places.

But it wouldn't surpise me if the UK did cut it out if they thought it wasn't suitable for the time the program was aired at. Due to some of the references to pornography and drug useage (which to be fair wouldn't shock most kids anyway), it would be no surprise if UK television didn't show that episode.

The interesting trivia about Scratch and Sniff was that as originally written and shot, it didn't work well. So someone had the idea of showing it as they did with the action jumping all around and rather hard to follow.

Originally I hated this ep. I thought it was incredibly stupid for D'Argo and John to get involved with the feather girls. I mean, any fool knows you shouldn't go to a strange city/country/planet and flash large amounts of money in a bar---you wil most likely wake up without it as they did.

Then I took extreme umbrage to the Chianna as heifer scene and the milking parlor scene. I swore I would destroy the tape.

I've mellowed some since then but I can sure see BBC not showing it on all sorts of levels.

Well, the whole point was that she was being raped, after all. It wasn't supposed to be pleasant; and I for one was quite happy to see Whatsisname (the Bad Guy) get his come-uppance.

Scratch n'Sniff is a very dark episode. It is actually two (at least) episode in one 45 minutes. Rape and sexual slavery and harvesting stuff from living beings is juxtaposed with the whole beach-party, alcohol-fueled lost weekend feel. Personally I found SnS a very disturbing episode. But I thought it was very well done. Showing the audience how under the sunshine and light of their favourite vacation spot is a seamy, degrading underworld of corruption.

Farscape is nothing if not layered. :)
