wrong URLs

Postby TINemo on Sun Mar 25, 2007 3:29 pm

I am having problems when the website sends me a notice that a topic I'm following has new answers. The link the message gives me leads to the message :"This topic does not exist"

This has happened, for example, Linfer, Burbank Con reports. If I can remember where the thread and the topic are, they are still there to be found.----so something is farbatz in the link message.

Thanks for helping TINemo

It will eventually get fixed, when Dani has the time. Please continue to be patient. Thanks! ;)

You know, my brain finally started working. I think what may be happening is that there are spammers posting to the existing threads. The mods are deleting the spam, but the email still goes out to people who have subbed to the thread. When you get the email, the url is for the deleted spam message.

I think you're on to something chryse. :) Not much we can do about that. We're doing our best to keep the spammers at bay, but some times a few get through. We're only human. :)

ok, just deleted something like 20 spams from the same spammer. The spams were posted around 7:30pm or so tonight. So if any of the emails lead to missing posts again, that were posted around this time, in practically ALL the forums and several existing, older posts, it's the spam causing the wonky urls in the notifications. :(

Thanks==hope that solves the problem

Too bad some folks have so much time on their hands they have to use it bugging other folks' hobbies.

They could lend me some of that spare time-- I sure could use it.

That is exactly what would be causing the problem. Thank chryse :)
