Yes they have done well with DVD sales---in fact with them they have some time ago broken even----but I don't think Henson wants to just sell DVDs( would that he did---I'd buy them), he really wants a movie that makes a profit on its own---and might warrant a sequel,

I don't know how realistic that is. The sets are gone, the costumes and props are sold, the cast and crew have scattered. I guess Pilot and Rygel are intact, but a restart would be expensive--maybe prohibitively so.

I just wish he would let us know
yes, in a year or 2 or 3 or......
no, can't see our way clear to do it.

Gotta point out that TJHC would never have used the old sets for a movie. It just wouldn't have happened. That isn't how movies work. Besides - where on earth would they store the set? They certainly couldn't keep paying for Homebush Studios just to keep the set intact. Not to mention that the little show called Firefly (the series that was the basis for the movie with the Special Edition DVD coming out) completely destroyed their set for Serenity at the end of the series. And yet... their was Serenity, big as life, in the movie.

As far as the costumes go... I don't think they would have reused the old ones.

There are only a few Farscape costumes that are iconic. I mean D'Argo got a new outfit every season. Chiana had her fair share of new ones and Sikozu had several outfits during Season 4, plus a complete change of pace for the mini. Even the Scarran's changed (a lot) over the course of the series (I think only one - very early - example of a Scarran has been auctioned).

The really iconic costumes were John's vest and duster, Aeryn's long black coat and Scorpy's outfit. All of which were showing signs of wear and would be replaced for a movie anyway.

The reality is that costumes cost a huge amount to store - in addition they degenerate over time, and assuming the actors don't gain and/or lose weight between then and the movie (didn't Ben lose some weight recently?) their clothes would have required replacing anyway.

All good reasons to unload the costumes - hopefully instead of costing money they might generate some - plus keep the fandom interest alive.

Selling costumes was the smart thing to do.... and not a sign of giving up.

The point I was making about the DVD sales.... is that movies make money on DVD. In fact that is increasingly where movies make money - to the point where theatres are becoming less and less relevant. (Not completely irrelevant sadly - but the direction is definitely moving that way.)

Brian Henson wants to do a big screen feature. Me too. (I want a trilogy actually but who is counting).

Nothing about dismantling the set or selling the costumes will impact negatively on that decision.

The DVDs of the series are selling well. Better than the distributors hoped. Now with Sony taking over the distribution (and possibly releasing yet another version of Farscape) it seems to me that money is still to be made. Farscape is a money maker. Sony thinks so.

I don't have a problem seeing a feature in the future.

Are you saying that if there's a movie, it will be sold only on DVD? or will have a short life on screen only in USA and soon sold on DVD?

I am only speculating. But that is a possibility. Right now Babylon 5 is in post-production for exactly that. Two direct to DVD movies: The Lost Tales. Plus the two SG-1 movies are also going to be direct to DVD.

I think, however, Brian wants to do a real honest to goodness feature film. So we will see.

By the way... Babylon 5 aired its last new episode in 1998 - almost 10 years ago - and a year before Farscape's first episode aired.

Just thought I would point out what a a dedicated and hopeful fandom can accomplish if they don't get discouraged by inconsequentials.

Some of us(not mentioning any names but the initials are TIN) are too old to wait ten years--I've already been retired for 12 years.

Yes Ben has lost weight, presumably for his role as Cameron Mitchell.Personally I liked his JC weight better--he is positively skinny(but muscular) when you put your arm around his waist (Lucky me!)

Claudia is also pencil thin, haven't seen her in person since 2004. but on SG1 she's quite thin since the baby.

Actually they have auctioned off several scarrans, and would have done more but the price is so high---and really what does one do with a six foot tall rubber lizard,Doesn't fit into my decor..I already have one whole wall of my office full of Farscape stuff and need room for more but can't lose my bookcases. Haven't even hung my pic of me and Ben from 2006 or the poster for that con.Or my Killler Within poster. Someone suggested the ceiling.I'm still mulling that.

I would love a trilogy, or anything. Please Brian, do SOMETHING soon.

I wish there was a way to make him get the message, although maybe he already knows it, but it's always a good thing reminding him abouth the fact that we want more Farscape, whatever the format is, I0ms ure that whatever he will do with the show, we, the loyal Farscape fans, will respond as we always did.

TINemo, The ceiling is a good place to stick a poster, I would suggest your room, that way this would be the last vision you have before falling asleep and the foirst one you see in the morning. A good way to start the day.

Well - let Brian know how much you want more Farscape. :)

Send The Jim Henson Company a postcard or letter. Send Hallmark one too - saying the same thing. Get your friends to join you. Heck - at your next fan gathering provide postcards, address them and get your friends to ask in their own words for more Farscape.

A steady stream of requests over a period of time is pretty effective campaigning. :)

And I think that some of us will be pleased to help you spread the word, that way, the more support you have, the better, I mean that if Hemson see that the support to Farscape is the same or almost the same that the one that was for Peadekleeper Wars, at least he will answer the latter.

NP it¡s the word to fight. Qw must look forward fo the wonderful word YES . And what comes later it would be a gift htat we, farsca fans deserve to have.

Oh yeah. Postcards via snail mail are always that much more effective.

E-mails are nice - but snail mail for maximum impact. :)

(and if you can use a postcard with your city/town on it - that is even better!)
